Change is inevitable. By now, you've noticed the recent name change to The Bald Wave. It's a change that was long overdue. So why the change? I'll keep it short and simple:
- Women (cis or transgender) with shaved heads or who are open about their baldness are more accepted than ever.
- Although shaved heads are less common on women than males, they are more common now. Why? There is a shift in gender norms.
- That shift in gender norms is building on earlier societal changes, meaning we appear to be at the start of a bald wave, where women increasingly feel comfortable shaving their heads or being bald in public.
- The new title is more inclusive than the old title. The Bald Wave's target audience is still cis-female, trans-female, non-binary, and of course allies.
